Grrrrr.... The Mentalist [14 Apr 2009|09:10pm]

So I like the show..

But tonight they picked on a Stereotype and fraudulently displayed Wicca as a religion in which its practitioners can and do caste "Death Spells."

CBS places a high value on providing equal employment opportunity and
maintaining a diverse workforce. We work hard to comply with all
applicable laws prohibiting discrimination and we strive to make our
workforce reflect the rich diversity of our society and our customers.
CBS recruits and hires without regard to race, color, sex, religion,
national origin, ethnicity, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender
identity, gender expression, disability, veteran status or any other basis
prohibited by law. We strive to administer all personnel actions such as

Is from the CBS Corporate Office conduct statement ( Searchable via Google.)

Please, I implore everyone to contact their corporate office and ask. Why if they value equal opportunity employment, which includes diversity and freedom from discrimination of Religion would they depict a show with GLARING falsehood, that would have been easily researched and corrected?

Its a shame we don't have a Wicca Anti-defamation league.

Vote now! [18 Sep 2008|11:01pm]

[ mood | vote!! ]

Patty Wiggington on The Pagan Voting Project:

Seriously, if you live in the US and you haven't registered to vote, do so. Your voice can't be heard if you don't exercise your right -- no, your duty -- to get to the polls on November 4th. I hear a lot of people say "Well, you can't trust politicians so I'm not voting." That's a cop-out. Our country was founded on the idea that everyone gets to participate in government. If you don't do your part, that means someone else is making the decisions for you, because they took the time to show up. Much like magic, voting gives us the power to bring about change in things we don't like.

Take a stand. Make your mark. Cast your vote, for whoever and whatever you may believe in.

Presidential Candidates and Faith.

For anyone in Florida, if you haven't registered to vote I have stacks (and I do mean STACKS) of voter registration forms. And if you like Obama (no matter where you live) I have free bumper stickers. Comment if'n you'd like one (limited amount, so first come, first serve. I have GLBT ones as well as the plain).

Vote or P-Diddy I'll kill you.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! - Haunted Attraction Crew For central FL area [14 Jul 2008|04:17pm]

[ mood | busy ]

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! - Haunted Attraction Crew

For event happening the weekend of October 17-19, 2008

In the Orlando/Casselberry/Sanford central Florida area

Nephilim United Productions, Inc., a corporation not for profit dedicated to promoting "dark" art, fashion, literature, film and music, is planning our first event for October 2008.  Volunteers are URGENTLY needed as we create a charity haunted attraction to serve as both a fundraiser and our first edutainment introduction to the community.  This will be a multi-element haunted event, and we need dedicated volunteers at all levels of experience and skill sets to bring everything together.

The attraction will combine educational, historic and cultural content with classic handcrafted scares, keeping tech effects costs to a minimum while relying on artistry, enthusiasm, and old fashioned fun and showmanship to provide family entertainment value and personal service unequaled by large "mega haunts" in the area.  The event is presented for entertainment purposes, and as such will call for the creation of "sideshow gaffs" and oddities created through a variety of means.  Local artists will also be needed to create the event, which will showcase the work of these artists.

Funding for the event will be secured through individual donations and sponsorship by businesses and organizations.  Sponsoring organizations receive acknowledgement, advertising, and promotion as outlined in our sponsors’ information packet (available upon request).

The primary theme for the guided-tour haunt is "The History of Halloween and Horror."  Scare-laden rooms will illustrate key points in this timeline: the Celtic origins of Halloween; early horror literature; a homage to the circus sideshow; classic movies; and television.  The overall framing script will be the operation of a "Traveling Spook-Show Carnival" of the style popular in America from the 1940's to the 1960's. Rooms in the sideshow will therefore also include a spook show séance, a museum of art and oddities, a "Treasures of Egypt" room, a chamber of horrors, a freak show, and a stage area for live performances of magic and theatrics.  That’s the plan.  We will need a lot of help to build the sets and staff these rooms.

Thank you!  We look forward to working with you and we will contact you shortly.

article on the Presidential candidates' positions on religion and politics [21 Feb 2008|12:38pm]

[ mood | accomplished ]

My new article on the Presidential candidates' positions on religion and politics has been uploaded to www.croneseraphim.com in the literature section:

In 2006 Barak Obama gave a speech in Washington, DC on “the connection between religion and politics.” The video is here: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/faith/. The text is here: http://www.barackobama.com/2006/06/28/call_to_renewal_keynote_address.php. This is my response. I also delve into the attitudes expressed by the other 3 candidates on this topic: Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and Mike Huckabee. While no one will be surprised at the Republican attitude, you might be surprised that Hillary shows all the hallmarks of a theocrat who may have given George W. his inspiration for the twisted, anti-Constitutional policies of his regime.

www.croneseraphim.com is set up to be the home of "Dark of the Moon Cronecast," a podcast Magus Dethen and I are in the process of putting together -- a Liberal and a Libertarian discussing pagan views of politics and constitutional liberties. As soon as the first show is uploaded I will post here and include links.

Also, we are able to put up ads, banners, and links, so if anyone here has a business they want to advertise with us, or a banner for any of your websites that you would like us to promote, click backs, useful sites to link to, etc., please let me know (vivienne_davalon@yahoo.com). Some advertising will be sold for revenue, but we also want to promote within the community and facilitate networking.

Hope you all enjoy the site and the article!

~ Twelfth Night Spell ~ [05 Jan 2008|01:28pm]

~ Twelfth Night Spell ~

In Christian tradition, today is Twelfth Night or Twelfth Day Eve. This marks the beginning of Epiphany and kicks off the start of the Carnivale season, which lasts through Mardis Gras. In some old English festivities, a Lord of Misrule would be elected to preside over both feasting and debauchery, while the normal social customs were suspended or reversed in a spirit similar to the Roman holiday Saturnalia. Twelfth Night is an excellent time to disperse stagnant energy and to upend rigid customs. Begin by cleaning your home and dumping material goods that you do not need or want. Then get crazy. Put your clothes on inside out to repel evil spells. Give a gift to a total stranger. Write with the opposite hand. Spend this day doing things out of the ordinary, and see what epiphany it brings you.

Blogathon! [27 Jul 2007|03:24pm]

So, tomorrow I'm doing Blogathon on my personal LJ, fallonmay. I'll be blogging 24 hours straight, every thirty minutes, to try and raise money for charity.

My sponsored charity is the Human Rights Campaign.

About the HRC:
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.

Even if you don't donate through my LJ for HRC, please find another journal to sponsor.

About Blogathon:
First some terminology: "blog" is a shortened version of "weblog" which is a frequently updated personal website. Most blogs have date stamps on the entries, and consist of links and commentary.

Now, remember when you were in school and you would bowl for charity? And for every pin you knocked down you got, say, ten cents? Or run for a dollar a mile? During the Blogathon, people update their websites every 30 minutes for 24 hours straight. For this, they collect sponsorships. Pledges can be a flat donation, or a certain amount for every hour the blogger manages to stay awake.

Hello everyone I’m down here in Florida for a while with an internship and I thought it would be fun to meet some other pagans down here. I’m in the Kissimmee/Orlando area looking for groups and shops and fun times. I’m a Kemetic Recon though I spent some time as a Wiccan. Other things I’m interested in is reading, history, nature walks, and just hanging out.

Storm Moon Tonight [03 Mar 2007|12:39pm]

The Full Moon in March heralds a total lunar eclipse. During the eclipse, the Moon appears to go through all of it's phases in a matter of hours.

Tonight, while the Moon is covered with that dusky-burgundy shadow, work for transformation and to increase psychic abilities. To honor the lunar eclipse, light two small tapers, one white and the other burgundy or dusky brown. Sit and meditate on changes you'd like. Repeat this spell as the eclipse begins.

As the Goddess pulls her soft cloak across the face of the Moon,
I light a dark and white candle to bring transformation soon.
As the eclipse shows all the lunar phases so bright,
May my psychic talents be seen in a whole new light.

Once the spell is spoken, go find a good spot to watch one of nature's finest shows. Allow candles to burn in a safe place until they go out. --- Ellen Dugan
